Day 15: Arches National Park, Utah - Canyonlands National Park, Utah
"We escaped the swarms of tourists in Arches to the spread out, open fields of Canyonlands. The Green River and Colorado meet here, deeply carving below shelves of mesas. We hiked Lathrop Trail, wanting to hike to the river but unable to dedicate 20 miles in 100 degree Fahrenheit heat. The grasslands were full of flowers - purple, yellow, red, and the largest dandelion ever! We stayed above the White Rim Trail, since walking into a canyon didn't sound very motivating! We normally hike up a mountain, and return tired downhill. Descending into a canyon (6,000' to 4,000'), you don't realize how tired you are until you turn back. We found a window and rock shelf. We climbed up squeezing between the small space into the window..."
Melissa fit much better than I did...
As evening approached, we got to enjoy some awesome light through the clouds, as well as some slightly stormy weather.
